Skin Series with Hailee Spear

When it comes to relaxation and rejuvenation we know what we’re talking about. So if you’re looking for tips on skincare and inspiration on following your passions, look no further than one of our fave Estheticians, Hailee Spear.

First things first, what inspired you to become an Esthetician?

I knew from the moment that I ever received my first facial and had my first spa experience that I wanted to be an Esthetician. I fell in love with being able to treat different skin ailments while also being able to relax clients at the same time. I love esthetics because there are constantly new treatments and technology coming along, so I feel like there is always room to grow and learn. I am incredibly passionate about the holistic approach to healing the skin (the whole body in general) so my next move is to attend herbal school and become a master herbalist. I’d love to be able to incorporate that into my facials and even create my own skin care products!

What advice do you have on diet and lifestyle for skin health?

Remember that optimal skin health all begins internally. Make sure you’re eating organic, quality food and, I know you’ve heard this before but I’m going to say it again, DRINK LOTS OF WATER! I have struggled with acne my whole life and I have learned that just by cutting out certain foods makes a huge difference in your skin.

What is your absolute favorite type of facial to perform?

My absolute favorite treatment to perform is dermaplaning. Dermaplaning is a form of physical exfoliation that requires the use of a sterile surgical scalpel to gently scrape the top layer of the skin and vellus hair, aka peach fuzz. It instantly brightens the skin, creates a smooth texture and promotes deeper product penetration. It pretty much can be incorporated into any facial treatment and is great for almost anyone, unless you have too many active breakouts. There is also no downtime from it and it is completely painless and will leave you instantly glowing and rejuvenated!

How can I make the effects of a facial last longer?

It’s all about how you take care of your skin at home. Use quality products and be consistent with your routine. Something I love to do between facials is a spicy masque (like the lime stimulating masque from Eminence!). If your skin is feeling dull, using a spicy masque will assist in stimulating blood circulation and help to revitalize and rejuvenate your skin between facials.
