Body Series with Lisa Blount

Taking us through a day in her life, our Lead Massage Therapist, Lisa Blount, gives us some advice on self-care and inspires us to follow a healthy and beautiful lifestyle.

Walk me through a day in the life of a Lead Massage Therapist.

I wear many hats when it comes to being the Lead Massage Therapist at Riviera Spa! The most important ones are supporting and training my team, coming up with the latest therapy treatments and protocols, and making sure everyone is up to speed on the newest massage modalities that are being offered. A big part of my job is to set the team up for success every single day.

What made you decide to get into massage?

I got into massage because I wanted to help people in a non-invasive, holistic way. I’m a cancer survivor, so a lot of that stemmed from what I went through. I specialize in injury relief, deep tissue, trigger point/sports, and prenatal. I love getting to know my clients, tailoring their massage to suit their therapy needs, and seeing those results happen.

How exactly can massage fit into someone’s particular lifestyle?

You have to take the time for YOU! No matter if you work a full time job, are a stay-at-home mom, go to the gym often or just simply need stress or pain relief, massage is vital to your health and overall well-being.

What are your favorite enhancements to use on your clients?

My favorite enhancements are CBD and yoga balm. They are completely organic, which is one of the reasons I love them so much. They also both help with pain and inflammation, so they are great for anyone struggling with that.

You seem to help a lot of people with your touch… At the end of the day, how are you able to destress and focus on your own health?

After giving my all to helping my clients throughout the day, it’s important to be able to give myself a break and focus on me. I like to do this by stretching, meditating for just 15 minutes, and taking a walk at the lake with my daughter, Maddie and dog, Rose.

What other daily self-care advice can you share?

Try an epsom salt soak! It works wonders!
